Imagen
Hi everyone, hope all is well :) Today I will write about "Little Fires Everywhere", my recent favorite serie. I will tell you why down below. Little Fires Everywhere is an American drama web television miniseries, based on the novel of the same name wrote by Celeste Ng of 2017. It premiered on March 18, 2020 on Hulu (streaming video service) and consists of eight episodes (each chapter lasts roughly an hour).   Set in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, Ohio during the late 1990s, Little Fires Everywhere revolve around  the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives. The story explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the motherhood, the racism, and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster. Is my recent favorite series because portrays very well the dilemmas of the intersectionality between feminism, motherhood, and racism. In ...

Blog 3: Quarantine Activities

Hi everyone, hope all is well :)  The commune in which I live (San Miguel) has been in quarantine since May 8. However, I have not left my home since March, when phase 4 of the pandemic was announced. About my daily routine, I generally wake up between 8 and 9 in the morning. I like to enjoy of daylight because it gets dark early and that disgusts me. Then I have breakfast, usually toast with peanut butter (I make it in a food processor) and blackberry jam, I love it. Then I go for a walk to Kaffito (my dog), or rather, he takes me for a walk (haha). Then I come home, turn on the computer and work, study, listen to music, or procrastinate. Later I have lunch, and then I go back to the computer. In my free time I usually cook and read. Now I am reading "The Art of Loving" (Erich Fromm). I don't see series because my internet is lousy :( I talk to friends and family on WhatsApp, and from time to time on video calls. That I tell you today, see you in t...

Blog 2: The best vacation ever

In June of 2017 I visited San Pedro de Atacama (Antofagasta region) with Carolina (my sister) and Daniel (my brother in law). We spent two weeks touring different places. We rented a car because my sister was pregnant with my niece Emilia. San Pedro de Atacama is located 2.500 mts. above sea level, on the north side of Atacama Salt Flat, an area of great tourist and archaeological attractions. The town is set on one of the many oasis formed by the rains of the "Bolivian Winter" in Atacama Desert, the driest in the world. That's why you can see truly unique vegetation, like chañares, carob trees, and capsicum.  It is the best trip (so far), because I met part of north of Chile. Until then, the furthest northern place I knew of was Viña del Mar (haha). Also, we tried many delicious foods. We ate Ricarica ice cream, a very sweet antiplane medicinal herb. We visit Socaire, Peine, the Chaxa lagoon, the Valle de la Muerte, the Valle de la Luna, the Catarpe...

Blog 1: A country I would like to visit

Imagen
Hi everyone. I hope they are well. My name is Francisca Mieres and I am a fifth year student of sociology. Today I will write about Buenos Aires, (Argentina). I would like to know this city because it has a lot of cultural life: museums, theaters, bookstores (the Ateneo Grand Splendid, for example), coffee shops, and it is only two hours from chile, fabulous! I would like to visit all these places and taste Argentine gastronomy. Buenos Aires is the capital and city most populous in Argentina. In addition, the architecture of Buenos Aires is fantastic, have multiple architectural trends and styles, from Neo-Gothic, Neoclassical, Eclectic to Art Deco and Art Nouveau. There is also modern and contemporary architecture. I would like to live in Buenos Aires. According to a study, Argentina is the second city in Latin America with the best quality of life, after Montevideo. I would also like to study at UBA, a university that, in addition to being prestigious, is free.
