Blog 2: The best vacation ever
In June of 2017 I visited San Pedro de Atacama (Antofagasta region) with Carolina (my sister) and Daniel (my brother in law). We spent two weeks touring different places. We rented a car because my sister was pregnant with my niece Emilia.
San Pedro de Atacama is located 2.500 mts. above sea level, on the north side of Atacama Salt Flat, an area of great tourist and archaeological attractions. The town is set on one of the many oasis formed by the rains of the "Bolivian Winter" in Atacama Desert, the driest in the world. That's why you can see truly unique vegetation, like chañares, carob trees, and capsicum.
It is the best trip (so far), because I met part of north of Chile. Until then, the furthest northern place I knew of was Viña del Mar (haha). Also, we tried many delicious foods. We ate Ricarica ice cream, a very sweet antiplane medicinal herb.
We visit Socaire, Peine, the Chaxa lagoon, the Valle de la Muerte, the Valle de la Luna, the Catarpe Valley, and the Tulor village. We also participated in an astronomical tour, we learned a lot about the Milky Way.
To finish, I share two images with you, in the first my sister appears at the end of a tunnel in Catarpe, and in the second appears the ruin of a house in Socaire.
