Blog 8: English Language Challenges
Hi everyone, I hope you are well :)
Today I am going to talk about my experience learning english in the university.
In general, I think that my experience learning english at university was good. I was in three english courses because in the initial diagnostic I qualified for the level 2 english course. In all the courses I had kind teachers who were concerned about the importance of practicing the oral component in learning english. Even so, I think that the oral practice of english should be higher (more class minutes) in level 2 and 3 courses. In this way, my experience learning english at school was quite bad because the oral component was practically not (or very little) worked. About blogs, I think they are a good tool to develop the writing component, since the possibility to write about anything (framed in a topic, of course), makes the exercise more stimulating and active.
I think the oral component is one of the aspects of my English that I need to improve. I am still ashamed to speak in english "without guidelines" or in an improvised way. In this sense, I think that the way to improve this aspect is to try to speak in english with trusted friends to avoid the fear of being wrong. Another aspect that I must improve is the vocabulary. I think that watching series with english subtitles and reading lyrics of songs in english can help me expand my vocabulary.
About the last question, I use english mainly when watching series (recently I tried to see twin peaks with english subtitles and I achieve it for a few minutes uwu), paying attention not only to the spanish subtitles, but also to the voices, to try to match audio and words. As I said earlier, reading the lyrics in english that I like is something I do frequently and I think it has helped me improve my level of understanding of english. As I said before, reading lyrics of songs that I like in english is something I do frequently and I think it has helped me improve my level of understanding of english.
This was the last block, regards everyone :)
you did a great job in the course!!
